You’ve probably heard the term “pyramid scheme” before. You know it means something dodgy, but what exactly is it? The technical term is Multi-Level Marketing, which is a type of Direct Sales Business. It uses levels of a Business Pyramid to kick-back a commission plan up to the top. All the money funnels upwards, and the chumps further down the pyramid are left chasing a mirage.
For those of you with your head screwed on, you may feel inclined to yell “scam” at the first whiff of a pyramid scheme. In this case, your instinct would be solid! You may hear that some companies such as J.W. Business Acquisitions or 3MP Atlanta have a reputation as borderline prospects. They supposedly flirt with the pyramid model without going totally postal. A number of familiar brand names, however, are serving as masks for genuine tentacles of the Devilcorp monster. Pull up a quick search for “marketing position” or “sales job” on your device. What you’ll actually come across are a plethora of U.S. jobs listings from this enormous, dastardly, and yet brilliant direct sales company.
Devilcorp: A Corporate Horror Story
Yup, that’s right: it’s known to many as “Devilcorp”. Time for another quick Google search and you’ll see what this company is all about. I guess curiosity got the better of me, because I decided to dance with the devil. You see, I already knew the so called “opportunity” was going to be too good to be true. Because of this I actually got some enjoyment out of the experience. To be entirely honest with you, the place that employed me, aka Clockwork, didn’t feel like the “Devilcorp” I was expecting. I guess the difference being that I wasn’t putting my heart into it, expecting to land up in the clouds.
Without wanting to sound like a user, I already knew easy money was what I wanted out of this job as soon as I got it. I didn’t want to work there forever. I just wanted a quick pay-check to utilize as efficiently as possible so I could get on with my life and move forward. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same exact way before they wind up in a Devilcorp position. Those who see the pyramid scheme under the sheep’s clothing, and those who aren’t so inclined to get their income from just one source are less likely to get burned.
Do It For The Experience (Pyramid Scheme)
I know I landed on my feet because of my general curiosity – the internet – and my interest in the Devilcorp legacy. The challenge is that young people are always going to fall into this bottleneck. Are you someone who doesn’t want to work a traditional 9-to-5? Because a lot of us really don’t. A study revealed 63% of millennials said they want to be their own boss. This is why the “executive training” / “fast progression” pyramid scheme model is always going to net a lot of catches. Kind of makes sense sadly: these dreams are what America is all about, baby!
So, like I said, for me, this opportunity wasn’t that bad. It had it’s ups and downs – and yes it was 100% commission – but overall it didn’t leave me haunted. I knew that some of the tactics were a little underhand. Despite this, there was still good sales experience to be gained. Marketing knowledge is super crucial for me and my plans for the future, so those lessons were worth taking. In the end, I left simply because my gut told me that my “owner” (Devilcorp has it’s own lingo) was cheating me out of my money. I’m pretty sure that he was cheating my distributor friends there too. Devilcorp has a reputation for not paying people when they quit, so it’s easy to imagine that the majority of “owners” at these Smart Circles, Cydcors, and Credicos are trapped in a barrel scraping cycle. In a way, I actually feel sorry for them.
Make Income Without A “Job”
If you can’t show me somewhere that actually pays a base salary and isn’t based on multi-level marketing, you’re probably looking for other models for generating an income. If you’ve been sucked into the Devilcorp machine, you probably know that there’s a better way to go. Something that doesn’t include bothering people at 7 o’clock at night with guns wavering in your face! The solution I found was becoming a MAGIX affiliate!
Magix is a German company with a lot of sauce, and they offer pretty good incentives for you to help them advertise. What’s really cool about Magix is that you don’t even have to be present to sell all of the time! If you’ve got your own passions that you’d rather be working on, then Magix is the perfect fit. Put your time in on the things that you want to – on what you’re good at – and promote someone else’s product as you go. This evolution of affiliate marketing is going to help the next generation side-step pyramid scheme nightmares.
If you’ve read this far, it’s because you have patience! You’ve probably worked at a subsidiary of Cydcor, Appco, Smart Circle, Credico, or the Cobra Group – to scratch the surface. You know what it’s like to be under pressure to sell to people even when you don’t want to. With affiliate marketing for Magix, that kind of pressure will never be on you again. Your selling will look like the banners above, and you’ll know exactly where you stand. But hey, it doesn’t have to be Magix – it can be whatever you want! I chose Magix because I’ve tried and like their products. The great thing about affiliate programs is that you can become a marketer for any brand that you like. And sell a product that you believe in! Leave a comment down below if you also fell for the “opportunity”
